Sagebrush Mariposa Lily (Calochortus macrocarpus)

Not appearing until the end of May or early in June, they are eagerly
awaited each year. A single light blue-green leaf appears before the stem
rises 12" or so to produce one or several of these lovely cup-like flowers.

Often plentiful where they grow in sagebrush and grasses, they will not
transplant to home gardens. Nor should they be picked for flower
arrangements. One of the beauties of nature, they are meant to be enjoyed
where they grow.
