Eifert Mural Project, Fort Townsend State Park

The Washington Native Plant Society provided financial assistance to produce an educational kiosk at Fort Townsend State Park. Larry Eifert, renowned naturalist artist and resident of Port Townsend, was commissioned to create a natural history interpretive mural for the Fort Townsend State Park.

Eifert is celebrated for his spectacular mural art that is displayed in more national parks than any other artist. His works are installed, exhibited and sold in national parks around the country that include Yosemite, Mount Rainier and Olympic National Park. Although his work is proudly displayed throughout the United States, Eifert’s works were nowhere to be found in his hometown of Port Townsend.

A member of the Olympic Peninsula Chapter of WNPS, Ann Weinmann, sought to bring Eifert’s talents home to showcase the beauty of the Fort Townsend State Park. The Washington State Native Plant Society awarded $650.00 to support this project.

The work is now complete and installed at the kiosk next to the upper parking lot of Fort Townsend State Park, located 2 miles south of Port Townsend off of Highway 20.
