The Washington Native Plant Society is encouraging members and other interested participants to help improve scientific documentation of invasive plants in Washington through herbarium collections. With financial support from the Washington Native Plant Society, Peter Zika has compiled lists of noxious weed collections needed from each county in Washington to fulfill this goal. See how to make collections and what to do with them once you have collected them. If possible, collections in triplicate of each species for any county would be helpful, as they will be shared with other institutions. Once collected, email us at wnps@wnps.org and we'll add your name to the list as a collector. Maybe you'll want to adopt a county and collect everything needed from a single county. That would be great, just let us know after each collection has been made, so we can get your name listed as the collector and minimize duplication of effort. Even if you can only collect a few specimens your effort and your willingness to follow through with correct label information and mailing will be a contribution to science. We will acknowledge it right here on this site and the history of your collection will be preserved for generations to come at the University of Washington and Washington State University.
