Study Weekend Lodging Options

Remember this year you are on your own for accommodations, however some rooms have been set at discount rates for WNPS guests.  Please see the recommendations below as a resource. 

There are a variety of lodging options in the Cheney/Spokane area ranging from the luxurious Davenport Hotel in Spokane for those who wish to pamper themselves to cabin rentals at nearby lake resorts and inexpensive motels for the more budget conscious. We suggest the following:

FOOD

We will be hosting a reception with light snacks (veggie tray, cheese and crackers, fruit, coffee, tea) both Friday and Saturday evening.  We hope you will attend our banquet catered by the Eastern Washington University Dining Service on Saturday.

For breakfasts the following options are available in Cheney:

  • Holiday Inn Express, Super 8, Best Western an Davenport Hotel all offer continental breakfasts for overnight guests
  • Starbucks is located on Betz Rd across from the Holiday Inn Express
  • Einstein Bros Bagels in Tawanka Hall on the Cheney Campus opens at 7:00 AM on Saturday (closed on Sunday), and serves a variety of pastries and coffee. Sandwiches and individual salads are also available to go.
  • Zips Drive In on Main St in Cheney is open 24 hr and offers a full breakfast menu on weekends

 

Pre-ordered box lunches are available from the EWU Dining Service (see registration form).  For those wishing other choices the following are available in Cheney:

  • Both Safeway (across from the Holiday Inn Express) and Yokes Fresh Market (on the Cheney Spokane Rd/Rt 904 intersection) have well stocked deli sections with pre-made sandwiches and salads
  • Einstein Bros Bagels in Tawanka Hall on the Cheney Campus opens at 7:00 AM on Saturday (closed on Sunday), and serves a variety of pastries and coffee. Sandwiches and individual salads are also available to go.
  • Main St Dining in Tawanka Hall on the Cheney Campus opens at 9:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday and offers a full breakfast and lunch menu.
  • Marketplace and The Mason Jar on Main St in downtown Cheney are open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, and offer pastries and locally sourced breakfast and lunch items
  • Top of the Line opens at 8:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to breakfast, they serve very good fish and chips and a good variety of freshly prepared burgers and other sandwiches.
  • Arturo’s is a small and very popular restaurant with excellent Mexican food. If you go during peak hours consider ordering take-out, as their dining area fills up fast.
  • El Rodeo is another very good Mexican Restaurant in downtown Cheney for those who enjoy a nice sit down meal.
  • Rokkos Teriyaki in downtown Cheney offers a good selection of Asian food
  • Lenny’s in downtown Cheney is open for dinner on Saturday and offers a good variety of well prepared Italian food with a good selection of wine to go along with your meal.
